Effective: 7 September 2026
This waiver covers every KongQuest event: competitions, workshops, jams, festivals and gatherings, whether we run them ourselves or deliver them with a partner or third-party provider.
It applies to everyone who attends, in any capacity: spectators, participants and competitors. If you are at one of our events, this is about you. If the person attending is under 16, section 10 sets out what a parent or guardian has to do.
Parkour, freerunning and the training around them carry a real and serious risk of injury. That includes sprains, breaks, head injuries, permanent disability and death. This is not a formality. It is the honest description of the activity.
Risks include, and are not limited to:
You accept that these are obvious risks of a dangerous recreational activity, and you take them on voluntarily.
KongQuest exists to create opportunities for people to showcase their skills: competitions, events and workshops, run by us or by third-party providers at public and private venues.
We do not watch every movement and we do not approve what you attempt. You choose your own lines, your own jumps and your own limits, and you remain responsible for those choices at all times.
You will follow the reasonable directions of event staff, officials, coaches and the venue operator, respect any conditions the venue sets, and stay out of areas that are closed or marked off. We may ask anyone to stop or to leave if they are unsafe or affecting the safety of others.
We take photos and video at our events, including live streams, and third parties such as media, partners and sponsors may do the same with our permission.
You agree that we may record you and use those images, footage and audio, together with your name or handle, to promote KongQuest and its events: on our website and app, on social media, in broadcast and press, and in partner and sponsor material. There is no fee, and there is no time limit.
If you would rather not be featured, tell an event official on the day and we will do our best to keep you out of material we control. We cannot control footage taken by other attendees or by media.
Knowing the risks in section 1, you take part at your own risk, and you release KongQuest, its people, its partners, event officials, volunteers and venue operators from liability for harm arising from those risks, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Nothing in this waiver excludes, restricts or modifies any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. This release does not cover reckless conduct, and it does not ask you to give up anything the law says you may not give up.
If you are hurt and cannot make the decision yourself, you consent to us arranging first aid, ambulance or medical treatment. You are responsible for the cost of any treatment or transport, so ambulance cover is worth having.
Bring your gear at your own risk. We are not responsible for personal property that is lost, stolen or damaged at an event.
KongQuest and the associations we work with carry public liability insurance. That cover is not personal accident insurance and it does not pay for your own injuries. If you want cover for yourself, arrange it yourself.
If the person attending is under 16, a parent or guardian must read and accept this waiver for them. Sixteen is also where our competition categories divide, so it is one line through the whole event rather than two that disagree.
By accepting on their behalf you confirm that:
We are legally required to hold a contactable adult for every attendee under 16. So at registration we ask for the parent or guardian's first name, last name, email, phone number and address. Those details are the emergency contact for the event: they are how we reach you from the ground if your child is hurt, and how ambulance or hospital staff identify who to call. They are kept with that registration, are visible only to you and to event staff, and are not shown to other members.
You are agreeing on your own behalf as well. Australian law limits how far a parent can give up a child's own legal rights, and nothing here is intended to do that.
What we collect when you register, and what we do with it, is set out in our Privacy Policy. Our Terms & Conditions apply alongside this waiver.
You accept this waiver when you tick the box during registration, or when you enter an event venue as a spectator. We record the date you accepted it and which version you accepted, so you always know what you agreed to.
If you do not agree with any part of this, do not register and do not attend, and talk to us instead.
