What we collect, why, who helps us run things, and the controls you have.
This policy explains what information KongQuest ("we", "us") collects when you use kongquest.app, kongquest.com.au, and connected KongQuest services (together, "the Platform"), and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
KongQuest welcomes young athletes. Accounts for members under 16 must be created by a parent or guardian, who accepts our terms and this policy on the child's behalf. Parents and guardians can contact us at any time to access, correct, or delete their child's information.
Only services that help us run the Platform: hosting and database providers, payment processors, analytics providers, and email providers. Some store data on servers outside Australia (for example, the United States); where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with Australian privacy law. We share information with authorities only where the law requires it.
If you use the Platform from outside Australia, your information is transferred to and processed in Australia and the United States. Where the privacy laws of your region (for example, the UK or the European Union) give you additional rights over your information, you can exercise them through the contact in section 8 and we will honour them.
The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies: essential cookies that keep you logged in and remember your settings (the Platform cannot work without these), and analytics that measure how the Platform is used so we can improve it. Our analytics do not use advertising cookies and do not track you across other websites. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking essential cookies will stop parts of the Platform, such as staying logged in, from working.
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, it is deactivated immediately and scheduled for permanent deletion. You can reactivate it by logging back in within 30 days, with everything intact. If you do not, we then permanently remove your personal information and the content tied to it: your name, email, phone, date of birth, profile, character, and photo, along with your posts, comments, and likes.
We keep only the limited records we are required to retain for legal, accounting, or dispute purposes, and aggregate statistics that do not identify you and cannot be traced back to you.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, encrypted password storage, and access controls. If a data breach happens that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires. If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, we notify the relevant data protection authority within the time the law requires.
You can see and update your profile from your account settings, change or reset your password, delete your account, ask us for access to or correction of your personal information, and unsubscribe from marketing at any time. Contact help@kongquest.com.au. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
We respond to privacy requests within 30 days. If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, you also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to receive a copy of your information in a portable form, and you can complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
You can connect your Instagram account to KongQuest. Connecting is optional and only works with Instagram Creator and Business accounts. When you connect, Instagram shows you what KongQuest is asking for and you choose whether to allow it.
What we receive and keep: your Instagram username and an Instagram account ID, so we can show your verified handle and credit you on media you share. We do not receive or store your Instagram password. When you add posts from Instagram to KongQuest, we use your permission for about an hour to list your posts and copy the ones you pick; that access is never stored, and the posts you pick are saved on KongQuest like any other upload you make.
Event pages: KongQuest also collects posts in which an event's own Instagram account (for example @natgatparkour) has been tagged, and shows them on that event's Media wall with credit to the person who posted them.
You can disconnect Instagram at any time in Settings > Profile, or remove KongQuest in Instagram's settings (Apps and websites). Either way we delete the username and ID we hold. To have a post you shared or a post that tagged an event removed from KongQuest, ask us at help@kongquest.com.au and we will take it down.
We may update this policy as the Platform evolves. The current version always lives here, with its last-updated date at the top.
